File Transfer Protocol

FTP

File Transfer Protocol, or FTP, is a protocol used for transferring files between computers on the internet. FTP is commonly used for uploading and downloading files to and from web servers, and is often used by web developers and designers to manage website content and files. FTP clients, such as FileZilla and Cyberduck, can be used to connect to FTP servers and transfer files. FTP is a relatively insecure protocol, as passwords and data are transferred in plain text, so it is recommended that users encrypt their FTP connections using SFTP or FTPS.
